The ceremony to mark 100 years of Rotary Austria took place in Vienna on Saturday, 22 February 2025. The anniversary concert by members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Prof. Dr Daniel Froschauer (RC Wien-Graben) began at 11 a.m. in the packed Brahms Hall of the Musikverein.
The ‘Rotarian Anthem’, composed by Franz Lehár (RC Vienna), the master of Viennese operetta in 1926, was played as a prelude. This was followed by a performance of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Septet in E flat major, which delighted the audience with its entertaining esprit.
Afterwards, more than 450 guests from the 1910 and 1920 districts met for lunch at the
Vienna Marriott Hotel. Under the professional moderation of District Officer Claus Bruckmann (RC Wien Gloriette) and District Officer, the past and present of Rotary Austria were presented in an entertaining and sometimes very amusing way.
A special highlight was certainly the honouring of the district governors Erika Krenn-Neuwirth (D1910) and Peter Neuner (D1920) as well as the numerous representatives of friendly foreign Rotary clubs.
The ceremony organised by Sabine Unterweger (RC Wien-Nestroy and District Governor nominee District 1910) can be described as a great success all round.
